ABOUT RHESIDAE
Dedicated to recreating the past
The Rhesidae are a company of friends united by their common passion of bringing the past to life by painstakingly researching and reconstructing the material culture of the Archaic and Classical Greeks and their neighbouring cultures.

The team was founded by Giannis Kadoglou during the first international gathering of Greek reenactors at Marathon, Greece, in 2011. We are based in Northern Greece, but our members are by now spread in other countries as well.

Our interest was initiated by military reconstructions, but our focus has shifted to include other aspects of ancient Greek life. Reenacting is a personal endeavor in our view, and our scope will continue to evolve, as long as the interests of our members are extended, provided that they are defined by the attention to accuracy towards the original objects.

We would like to stress that we are not a politically oriented group, and our company is solely interested in examining and reconstructing aspects of the ancient world as scientifically as possible.

We are well aware that the distant past will never be reconstructed exactly as it was, due to a number of factors. Lost techniques, tools and materials, lack of preserved evidence, as well as evidence not accessible to us are all factors that work against us, and let us not forget that the cost of making and acquiring accurate reconstructions is a major deterrent for the modern reenactor. But with our team and this website we will try to offer to the interested parties as much information as possible in a comprehensive and accurate way.
